Core Principles
- Immediate Open Access: All articles published in SAJST are made available worldwide immediately upon publication, allowing users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.
- Licensing: Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are credited.
- Article Processing Charges (APC): To support the open access model and cover the costs of manuscript processing, peer review, editorial work, and permanent online hosting and archiving, SAJST charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) for articles starting in 2024. Details regarding the payment process after acceptance, and waivers or discounts for authors from low-income countries or those without funding will be transparently provided after the acceptance.
- Quality Assurance: Adherence to open access principles does not compromise the peer review process and the quality of published content. All submissions undergo rigorous peer review based on intellectual merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.
- Archiving: SAJST ensures the long-term preservation of its content through partnerships with reputable archiving systems such as LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, guaranteeing accessibility for future generations.
- Compliance with Institutional and Funder Mandates: SAJST facilitates authors in meeting the open access requirements of their funding bodies or institutions, providing necessary information and documentation upon request.
Author Responsibilities
- Authors are required to agree to the terms of this open-access policy as part of the submission process.
- Authors are responsible for securing funding to cover the APC and should inform the journal at the submission stage if they will be applying for a waiver or discount.
- Authors must properly acknowledge the sources of data and literature used in their research and ensure that all parts of their work are original or appropriately licensed.
Waivers and Discounts
SAJST offers waivers and discounts to authors from low-income countries, as well as to researchers without funding. Requests for waivers or discounts must be made at the time of submission and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
